Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 pound of lean ground beef
2 - 3 ounce blocks of whole grain ramen noodles
3 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tbsp lower sodium soy sauce
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
⅓ cup water
3 green onions, thinly sliced
1 cup frozen, shelled edamame beans
1 cup frozen peas
360 g packed, frozen stir fry mix
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
In a large skillet, over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until cooked.
While the beef is cooking, heat up a large pot of water until boiling. Then add the whole grain ramen noodles, and cook as directed on the package, usually for under 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, Chinese five-spice powder, fresh ginger and water.
Drain and rinse the ground beef under water to further reduce the fat in the ground beef. Return to the pan. Add in green onions, shelled edamame beans, stir fry mix, frozen peas and sauce. Heat through. Top with sesame seeds.
To serve, place noodles in a bowl. Top with ground beef edamame mixture.
